Shaker Hockey League Tops in Championships
|
|
March 28, 2008: Shaker Youth Hockey Association (SYHA) earned seven championships this season, one at every level of youth hockey, and more than any of the other 20 leagues in the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL), a division that includes communities from Cleveland to Columbus.
SYHA’s PeeWee AA Team won the Ohio State Championships. Dreams of competing in the nationals faded in closely fought contests at the Mid American Hockey District in March when the team faced off against top tier II teams from Indiana, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania. Shaker’s team consists of 11 players from Shaker Heights, two from Moreland Hills, two from Hudson and one from Orange and is coached by Matt Shenk.
- Mite 2: (CSHL Divisional Champions) (Coach Stefan Fisher)
- Squirt 2: (CSHL Divisional Champions) 3-1 Winners over North Olmsted in playoff championship (Coach David Swain)
- PeeWee 1: (CSHL Divisional Champions) 2-0 Winners over Rocky River in playoff championship. Peewee AA State Champions, Ohio State Representatives at Mid American District Tournament (Coach Matt Shenk)
- PeeWee 3: 3-1 Winners over Garfield in playoff championship (Coach Chris Vlasich)
- Bantam 1: 7-3 Winners over Elyria in playoff championship, CSHL Playoff Champions (Coach Caleb Wyse)
