Low Interest Loan Programs

Heritage Home Program | Home Enhancement Loan Program | Low Cost Mortgage Program (for some public service employees) | Fund for the Future of Shaker Heights


If your home is over fifty years old, the Heritage Home Program may be just the program for you!

  • Terms: 3.5% home improvement loan over a seven to ten-year period depending on the loan amount.
  • Loan amounts range from $3,000 to $75,000.

The Home Enhancement Loan Program (H.E.L.P.) provides home improvement loans.

  • 3% below market rate for 10 years for loans over $12,500 or
  • Five years for loans that are $12,500 or less
  • Loans can be used for code violation compliance, property upgrades, repair, or maintenance
  • No income restrictions.
  • Single-family, two-family and multifamily dwellings are eligible.
  • Property owners can borrow between $3,000 and $200,000 for home improvements.

A Low Cost Mortgage Program, the Home Possible and Home Possible Neighborhood Solution Mortgages can boost the home buying power of teachers, law enforcement officers, firefighters and health care workers by as much as 30 percent.

  • Low- and moderate-income borrowers can get an affordable, low-cost mortgage using as little as $500 of their own funds.
  • Home Possible and Home Possible Neighborhood Solution Mortgages are available through Freddie Mac's national network of more than 2,000 lenders and 10,000 mortgage brokers.
