Shaker Life wins National Recognition
First Place Award given to Quarterly Publication
September 11, 2014: Shaker Life, a quarterly magazine published by the City of Shaker Heights, has won national recognition for the quality of the publication by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). The first place Savvy Award given to Shaker Life distinguishes it from among 23 entries in the Printed Publications - External Publications category from across the country. County program enables residents to receive emergency notifications
August 27, 2014: Shaker Heights has joined seven other cities in Cuyahoga County’s ReadyNotify mass notification system. The City will use ReadyNotify to deliver important information to the public regarding emergencies and safety situations as well as when emergencies require closing of city buildings. The system is provided by Cuyahoga County at no cost to the City.Read more...

City to Hire Police Officers (Lateral Entry)
August 6, 2014: The City of Shaker Heights is hiring Police Officers through a lateral entry process, limiting the pool of applicants to the first 50 completed application packets received from trained and experienced police officers from other Ohio law enforcement agencies. This process reduces outside training time and puts experienced police officers to work as quickly as possible. All Police Officer positions are Civil Service appointments and participate in the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.Read more...
