June 14, 2013 - The fourth annual Shaker Heights Arts & Music Festival returns to Farnsleigh Road between Warrensville Center and Van Aken on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23, delivering a weekend of great food, a juried art show, musical entertainment and activities for children. Free admission. Farnsleigh Road will be closed to through traffic from Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 23.

June 14, 2013 - A diagnosis of leukemia or other blood cancer turns any family's world upside down. Now residents have a unique opportunity to help these families find solid ground by rappelling 12 stories down the Tower East building in Shaker Heights.
This fundraising event asks individuals to raise $1,000 an go Over the Edge, rappelling down the building's north facade in support of Be The Match, a national nonprofit that helps blood cancer patients find a marrow donor and receive a life-saving transplant.

June 5, 2013 - The Shaker Heights Landmark Commission announces the grand prize winner and category winners of the first annual Preservation Month Photo Contest. The contest was created in honor of National Preservation Month, which is celebrated each May by preservation organizations across the country. Forty-three entries were received.
Ann Klavora, principal planner for the City says, “The Landmark Commission is pleased with the response to the inaugural Preservation Month photo contest. The wide variety of submissions captured many of the different Shaker places that people love. We are already looking forward to next year’s contest.”
