Community Emergency Response Team
Shaker Heights is continuing to train members for the Shaker Heights Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The CERT Program is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, and is partnered with Citizen Corps. These teams make a difference in cities all across the nation, and there are several active groups throughout Cuyahoga County.
CERT members are trained in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. They then serve a vital role in the community, educating their neighbors about disaster preparedness and assisting response teams in the event of an emergency.
