#ShakerPlays: QiGong in Thornton Park
Tuesdays at 10:00am - 11:00am
June 28, July 12, July 26, August 9
Thornton Park, 3301 Warrensville Center Road

Relax and enjoy a free, bi-weekly guided QiGong session from instructor Ana Maria Carrillo. These sessions will be held in Thornton Park in the shaded area behind the Pool near the Sledding Hill - park in the Farnsleigh lot and walk along the south side of the Pool fence.

Qigong is a traditional Chinese mind-body practice that focuses on the integration of life force energy to bring beneficial effects at physical and emotional levels.  It uses posture, gentle, slow and powerful movements that when coordinated with breathing lead (over time and practice) to multiple benefits.  It is a universal practice beneficial for people of all ages.  It requires no special equipment or clothing.

Despite being an ancient practice, Qigong is gaining popularity in the US and is expected to reach an expansion similar to Yoga some years ago.  Because of the current need to improve overall health and wellness following the pandemic, self-care practices are promising as health care routines.  Qigong complements and aids medical treatment for multiple physical and emotional conditions. Due to its strong emphasis on prevention it lends itself nicely for strength, vitality, energy, and longevity.  Finally, its calming effects help develop resilience and emotional well-being.

Be among the first to participate in health/wellness oriented Qigong classes now being offered in Shaker Heights to facilitate the overall fitness of the community.  Take your health into your own hands and benefit from a self-help program that is easy to learn and practice, simple and elegant, inexpensive, and brings tremendous growth.  A small investment in time and effort yields incredible returns.
