Rob Zimmerman was first elected to Council in 2005, then re-elected to new four-year terms in 2009, 2013 and 2017.
He has served as chair of the Finance Committee, the Safety and Public Works Committee, the Communications and Marketing Committee, the Fair Housing Review Board, and the Board of Appeals. He has served as a member of Efficient 21st Century Government Task Force, Finance Committee, the Building, Housing and Technology Committee, the Neighborhood Revitalization Committee, the Income Tax Board of Review, and Planning Commission as well as a citizen member of the Safety and Public Works Committee and the Human Relations Commission.
Zimmerman previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation, where he served as Chairperson of the Government Relations Committee and Vice Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee. He is Board Member of Menorah Park and has served on the boards of the Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and the Cleveland Jewish News.
He is a partner at Benesch Friedlander, where he specializes in litigation and government relations law.
He graduated from Ohio State University with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He also received his law degree from Ohio State University where he was Chief Justice of the University Court.
He and his wife Lisa and daughters Talia and Lilli live on Shelburne in the Mercer neighborhood.
