New Housing Developments
In recent years, a variety of new housing developments have sprung up around Shaker Heights with more in the works.
Van Aken Mews
On the same site as the Townhomes of Van Aken and representing a second phase of development for this area are the Van Aken Mews. Currently under construction, these will be two-story, single family townhome style units. They will also receive the 15 year tax abatement. Learn more.
Van Aken District Phase 2
The developer of Upstairs Van Aken, RMS, is building a new 228-unit apartment building in the Van Aken District. Estimated completion is 2024.
This mixed-use development has been proposed for the corner of Fanrsleigh Rd. and Warrensville Center Rd. in the Van Aken District; in addition to retail and office, the proposal includes a mix of mix of market-rate and affordable apartment units and townhome-style rental units.
Townhomes of Van Aken
Located on Van Aken Boulevard at the intersection of Onaway Road, the Townhomes of Van Aken feature 12 new single-family, town home-style residences with modern floor plans and amenities. Walk to Shaker Square or Chagrin-Lee to do your shopping, or hop on the Rapid for a quick trip east to the Van Aken District or west for an easy commute downtown.
A 15-year property tax abatement saves buyers up to $11,000 a year.
Upstairs Van Aken
Upstairs Van Aken leases upscale, modern, open concept one- and two-bedroom apartments in the heart of the Van Aken District.
