Employment Support

Unemployment Insurance The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) Office of Unemployment Insurance has a variety of resources available here to help employers and employees navigate the support programs in place. View FAQs specific to employers.

Avoid Layoffs – SharedWork Ohio is a voluntary layoff aversion program that allows you to keep workers employed under reduced hours during times of reduced business activity, and ODJFS provides eligible individuals an unemployment insurance benefit proportionate to their reduced hours.

Ohio’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has deferred insurance premium installment payments for March, April and May until June 1, 2020.

Additionally, on April 8, 2020, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine asked the BWC board to send up to $1.6 billion in dividends to Ohio employers to ease the economic impact of COVID-19. The dividend will be equal to approximately 100% of the premiums employers paid in policy year 2018.  Dividends will be applied to an employer’s outstanding balance first, and any excess will be sent to the employer. Click here for more information on the BWC dividend.  See these BWC FAQs for additional information on all BWC COVID-19 responses and information.
