Biography
Ifeolu A.C. Claytor was elected to his first four-year City Council term beginning January 1, 2022. His current term expires December 31, 2025.
Work History
Claytor is a campaigns and elections professional who currently works as the deputy director for Issue and Electoral Organizing at State Voices, where he focuses on non-partisan Get Out the Vote efforts across a multi-state network. Prior to this, Claytor worked at All Voting is Local - focusing on Ohio voting rights issues, on the Warren for President Campaign, Safe & Healthy Ohio ballot initiative campaign, the Donnelly for Ohio Supreme Court campaign, and for Burges and Burges Strategies producing research to win candidate and levy races across the state and region. He has also coordinated HIV-prevention education for The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland and civic education with The ACLU of Ohio.
Volunteer Activities
Outside of his professional career, Claytor coordinates Community & Social Actions for the Cleveland (OH) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the East Central Province. He serves as the Political Action Chair for the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP. Claytor also serves as 1st Vice President of the Shaker Heights Democratic Club and the Treasurer for the Northeast Ohio Young Black Democrats. He has also served on The Shaker Schools Foundation’s Alumni Hall of Fame and Homecoming Committees.
Education
A third generation Shaker resident, Claytor is a second-generation alumnus of Shaker Heights City School District. He earned B.A. degrees in Political and Social Justice Studies from Miami University.
Personal Life
Claytor is a lifelong resident of the Moreland neighborhood and enjoys frequenting locally owned and Black-owned businesses in the area.
