Halloween Guidelines

Graphic for Halloween saftey tips

There's no doubt about it, Halloween will look different this year.  The traditional Halloween trick or treating will go forward. Residents are encouraged to consider their personal situations and make their own decisions about how to celebrate. We will continue to follow guidelines issued by health authorities and will make adjustments if necessary. Whether you plan to trick or treat or celebrate at home, the following information will help make your Halloween as safe and spook-tacular as possible.

Trick or Treat

Trick or treating is Saturday, October 31, 6-7:30 pm. If you plan to trick or treat or hand out candy, please follow these basic guidelines from health authorities:

  • Use a socially distanced way to distribute candy
  • Provide only pre-packaged items; no homemade treats
  • Use wipes to sanitize candy wrappers after returning home
  • Maintain social distance, wear masks, and use hand sanitizer often
  • Avoid crowds
  • Stay home if you feel unwell

Please review and consider these guidelines:

If you do not plan to hand out candy, please turn off your front light. Trick-or-treaters should NOT approach homes where the light is off. You can also print one of these flyers to let trick-or-treaters know whether or not to stop at your home:

Alternatives to Trick or Treat

Stay home, while having fun with these ideas:

  • Make a Halloween-inspired recipe or craft
  • Enjoy a special Halloween movie night
  • Virtual visits by relatives to show off kids’ costumes
  • Decorate the living room with lights and props for Halloween story time
