Updated November 23: The project is substantially complete. Site restoration (e.g. planting new grass etc.) will be completed in the spring.
Updated September 16: Starting on Monday, September 20, the contractor will mill and install the intermediate asphalt course for Phase 3 of the WCR resurfacing project; as noted under Phase 3 below, the work area is from the southern City limit to Norwood Rd. Expected duration is three days (weather permitting). Bi-directional traffic will be maintained but motorists should anticipate delays. Adjustments of utility castings will start shortly thereafter
On Monday, September 27, the contractor will install the final surface asphalt course on Phase 2 (see below). This work area is Shaker westbound to Fairmount Circle, including Fairmount Circle. Expected duration is one week (weather permitting). Traffic will be maintained but motorists should expected delays.
Updated August 2: Phase 1 of the resurfacing is now complete, except for pavement markings. The intersection work continues and access to South Park Blvd. has been closed as the Shaker westbound reconfiguration gets underway.
Posted May 26: In mid-May, the City will start a major infrastructure improvement project that will include the resurfacing of Warrensville Center Rd. between Farnsleigh Rd. and Fairmount Circle and the reconfiguration of the Shaker Blvd. and Warrensville Center Rd. intersection. The project will have three phases:
Phase 1: Starts Mid-to-Late May
During this phase:
- The City’s contractor (Roynak) will resurface Warrensville Center Rd. between Farnsleigh Rd. and Shaker Blvd. eastbound.
- Additionally, the intersection of Shaker Blvd. eastbound and Warrensville Center Rd. will be reconfigured to improve safety, while also enhancing connections for bicyclists and pedestrians.
- Warrensville Center Rd. will be limited to one lane of traffic in each direction in the work zone. There will be additional periodic lane closings on Shaker Blvd eastbound as the intersection is reconfigured. Please follow posted signs.
- Anticipated duration is 60 days (weather permitting).
- Work hours are 7 am to 5 pm.
Phase 2: Starts Mid-to-Late July
During this phase:
- The contractor will resurface Warrensville Center Rd between Shaker Blvd. westbound and Fairmount Circle. The stretch between Norwood Rd. and the City's southern border will also be resurfaced.
- The intersection of Shaker Blvd. westbound and Warrensville Center Rd. will be reconfigured to improve safety, while also enhancing connections for bicyclists and pedestrians.
- Warrensville Center Rd. will be limited to one lane of traffic in each direction in the work zone. There will be additional periodic lane closings on Shaker Blvd. westbound as the intersection is reconfigured. Please follow posted signs.
- Anticipated duration is 60 days (weather permitting)
- Work hours are 7 am to 5 pm.
Phase 3: Starts Mid-to-Late September
During this phase:
- The contractor will resurface Warrensville Center Rd. from Norwood Rd. to the City's border with Warrensville Heights.
- Warrensville Center Rd. will be limited to one lane of traffic in each direction in the work zone.
- Anticipated duration is 30 days (weather permitting)
- Work hours are 7 am to 5 pm.
