[ARCHIVED] Hiring Shaker’s Next Police Chief

Shaker Heights Police Department badge

In June, Shaker Heights Police Chief Jeffrey DeMuth announced he will retire in January 2023 and City Council approved the hiring of a national consulting firm to search for his replacement. To aid in this process, the City is urging residents to take an online community survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SHCommunityInput.

The link will be live until July 22, 2022.

The survey gives residents an opportunity to tell the consultants, Public Sector Search & Consulting, Inc. (PSSC), the qualifications and leadership qualities they believe the new chief should possess and the public safety priorities they hope the new chief will embrace.

Following the recruiting and screening process, the Mayor’s Police Chief Interview Panel will conduct interviews with highly qualified applicants and provide recommendations to Mayor David Weiss. The candidates deemed strongest will be invited to participate in an onsite selection process with the mayor and his team.
