The Shaker Heights Landmark Commission announces winners of the seventh annual Preservation Month Photo Contest. The contest, created in 2013, honors Preservation Month, which is celebrated each May by preservation organizations across the country. This year’s contest was on Instagram. Twenty photographers submitted 48 entries at the hashtag #PreserveSH19.

The contest encouraged residents and visitors to submit images showcasing what makes Shaker “Shaker.” Submissions ranged from specific architectural details and landmark buildings to neighborhood scenes, events, streets and parks.

The Commission selected a grand prize winner and three runners-up. In addition, the People’s Choice award was given to the submission receiving the most likes on Instagram. All entries can be viewed at the Instagram hashtag #PreserveSH19.

Winning Photographs:

Grand Winner: Memorial Day Parade by Jessica Nave
People’s Choice: Homecoming Dinner by Kathryn Prause
Runner-Up: Van Aken District by David Berlekamp
Runner-Up: Walk #26: Pink Petal Party by Heather Torok
Runner-Up: Signs of Spring by Maura Brett-Eiger

Winning photographs will be printed in the fall issue of Shaker Life magazine. All 2019 submissions can be viewed here
