IMPORTANT: Post your Protocols
Visibly post your business requirements to clearly communicate expectations
During these times, the health of our families, friends, neighborhoods, businesses, and community is paramount. As you reopen your doors, it is critical to clearly and regularly communicate with employees, customers, and the community to explain the precautions your business is taking to help keep everyone safe.
The City of Shaker Heights strongly encourages all businesses that invite the community inside to instruct guests and customers on your business expectations. Please share your safety protocols by way of social media, on your website, at your entry, and elsewhere on your premises. Visibly posting signage will set expectations and help customers comply.
As you know, the State of Ohio mandates that businesses require all employees to wear facial coverings (with some limited exceptions). Facial coverings for customers are recommended, but not required. If you are choosing to deny customers entry or will be asking them to leave based on failure to wear a mask or to follow other social distancing requirements, please clearly express your expectations, especially via clear signage on the premises. If a customer does not have a facial covering, consider providing a mask (or a low-cost option for the customer to purchase), and remind guests of your policies.
Thank you for your thoughtful and comprehensive approaches to reopening safely for your employees and the general public. We appreciate your cooperation in clearly displaying and communicating your policies to the community.
