Sensible Salting
The Cuyahoga County Soil & Water Conservation District is reminding residents to salt walkways and driveways sensibly this winter. Using too much salt can be harmful to our regional waterways, so save money and use less. A 12 ounce coffee cup full of salt is enough to cover about 10 sidewalk squares. Also salt works best when applied before it snows and, last but not least, when temperatures dip below 15 degrees, salt is less effective. Consider adding sand for added traction. Learn more.
