New Gas Aggregation Rate
Effective April 1, the rate for the City’s natural gas aggregation program will rise to $4.56 per MCF. This new rate will be in effect through March 2025. In February, opt-out letters were mailed to residents participating in the natural gas aggregation program. Those who wish to remain in the program should do nothing (just recycle the letter); residents who wish to opt out should follow the instructions in the letter. Learn more.

Photo Contest Starts March 24
The Shaker Heights Landmark Commission seeks submissions for its 10th annual Preservation Month Photo Contest. The biennial contest was created in honor of National Preservation Month, which is celebrated each May by preservation organizations across the country. The community is invited to submit photos showing what makes Shaker "Shaker." Submit photos on Instagram using the hashtag #PreserveSH23 through May 31. Learn more.

Call for Artists: Help Paint the Town
The Shaker Heights Arts Council (SHAC) seeks artists to submit designs for its Paint the Town utility box competition. Artists must be at least 21 years or older and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Application deadline is April 10 at 5 pm. Learn more.

SHPD Requests Public Feedback
The Shaker Heights Police Department will be assessed by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) as part of the re-accreditation process. The SHPD has been accredited by CALEA since 1989. As part of the re-accreditation process, the public is invited to submit comments on SHPD’s compliance with CALEA standards, service delivery, community engagement, and overall candidacy for accredited status. It's Tree Maintenance Season

Register for Spring/Summer Recreation Programs & Pool Passes
The Spring/Summer 2023 Recreation Catalog is now available and registration for all spring and summer programs and summer camps is open! Many camps are filling up quickly, so please don’t delay in registering. Thornton Park Pool passes are also on sale now and early bird pricing is available through April 4. Registration is available in person, by phone, or online through the online registration system.

Hands-on Plaster Repair WorkshopsWednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2, 7-9 pm Learn the basics of plaster repair during the Home Repair Resource Center's two-day workshop. Using model walls, you'll be repairing cracked, chipped and sagging plaster; work with joint compound "mud" and putty knives to add new coats of plaster, and more. Fee: $40. Please register. Shaker residents receive a 25 percent discount.

A Night for the Red and White is March 18A Night for the Red & White: A Benefit for Shaker Schools is just weeks away! The event will spotlight the Raider Reps as greeters at the check-in tables, and the marching band’s drumline will lead the procession. There will also be performances by the String & Vocal Ensembles, as well as a K-12 art show. Event tickets and raffle tickets are now available.
High School Hall of Fame Alumni Nominations Open Know of a deserving alum who should be nominated for the 2023 Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame? Anyone may nominate a Shaker alumni for this honor. Nominations will be accepted online through April 3.
Shaker Theater Arts Department Presents 'The Spongebob Musical' This collaboration featuring songs from a variety of artists including Jonathon Coulton, Sara Bareilles, John Legend and Panic!
