Thornton Park Pool Opens May 27The Thornton Park Pool opens for the season, Saturday, May 27. The toddler pool and lap swimming will be available from 9-11 am and the pool will be available for open swimming from 11 am-7:30 pm on May 27 and 28. On Monday, May 29, the pool will be open from 10 am-5 pm for open swimming. Shaker Recreation summer camps begin the week of June 12. Many of the most popular camps are already full, but spaces do remain in some camps including Junior Raider Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Track, and Wrestling Camps, as well as some Skyhawks Camps. Board of Education Approves Long-Term Master Facilities PlanOn May 22, the Shaker Heights Board of Education unanimously approved a Long-Term Master Facilities Plan that will serve the community for decades to come. The plan is the product of two years of extensive discussion, research and community feedback and will be segmented into two separate ballot issues, with the bond issue for the first segment appearing on the November 2023 ballot. 2023 Shaker Heights Commencement on June 6 Shaker Heights Commencement will be held on Tuesday, June 6, at 6 pm at the Bert L. and Iris S. Wolstein Center.
