Dear Shaker Resident,
This is a special edition of The Mayor's Report pertaining to today's announcement about three confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cuyahoga County. Please see the video and review the infection control measures below.
We ask that these infection control measures be implemented immediately. This will help to limit the spread of the virus and protect those who are most vulnerable to severe infections (primarily the elderly and those with compromised immune systems). - Social distancing
- Refrain from shaking hands. A wave or an elbow bump is an acceptable greeting. It will feel odd at first, but if everyone starts doing this, it will become a habit and will go a long way to containing the spread of this, or any, virus.
- Avoid crowded gatherings and, if possible, replace face to face meetings, with conference calls.
- If you are ill, especially with a fever and cough, please stay home and call your doctor for further instructions. This is essential.
- Hygiene
- Proper and frequent handwashing is critical. Please wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly several times a day, particularly when coming in from outside or from places with large numbers of people.
- Refrain from touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth, as this is a common way for the virus to spread.
- Practice proper cough etiquette including coughing into a disposable tissue and disinfecting your hands after each use. Alternatively, cough into your elbow.
- Travel: With spring break coming up in the next few weeks, and an increase in the number of people traveling in and out of the state or country, there is increased potential for exposure to coronavirus. Please review the CDC guidelines about travel.
If you have questions or comments, please email me at mayor@shakeronline.com.
Thank you.
