Temporary Cancellation of City Meetings Effective Wednesday, March 11 through Thursday, April 30
Dear Residents,
I want to provide an important update on the social distancing steps we are taking following the news of confirmed coronavirus cases in Cuyahoga County. As the Mayor, my primary focus is on the health and safety of residents, first responders and employees of the City of Shaker Heights, and on ensuring the continuity of City operations.
After consulting with the City’s Management Team and Council Members, I am temporarily cancelling all City meetings (with a few exceptions noted below) effective Wednesday, March 11 through Thursday, April 30. The meetings which have been cancelled will be noted as such on the Meetings Calendar found on the City’s website.
The following meetings will be held with modifications to address social distancing protocol. We will share those modifications ahead of these scheduled meetings.
- Architectural Board of Review (ABR): March 16 and April 6
- City Council: March 14 (9 am Special Meeting); March 30 (Regular Meeting); and April 27 (Regular Meeting)
- Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals: April 7
In addition, the League of Women Voters is postponing the State of the City event scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, March 12. Details will be forthcoming about a rescheduled event.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we aggressively enact social distancing practices to slow the progression of coronavirus in our community. We are taking these measures to protect everyone’s health and safety and to mitigate the impact on our first responders and hospital systems. While these temporary cancellations are disruptive, I am hopeful that these actions, and together with those we each take individually, will help us move through this outbreak, protect ourselves and each other, and return to normal operations as soon as possible.
Again, thank you for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
