Alex Nichols, Director, Shaker Heights Recreation Dept.

From the Director

Dear Resident,

The days are getting shorter and the nights just a little bit cooler. It’s hard to believe that students and teachers are getting ready to leave the pool to head back into classrooms and the regular rhythm of fall. As the final block parties are wrapping up for the season, we want to encourage you to keep connecting with your neighbors and finding time in your normal routine to add adventure, play and fun!

The vibrancy of Shaker pulses around our people. This fall, we hope that recreation can be the catalyst that brings people together. Whether you are watching your child’s first soccer practice, attending your first adult fitness class, an arts workshop, or zooming around the rink at a Friday Night Skate session, take a moment to connect with those around you. Talk to someone you have never met before; introduce yourself to a new community member. It is by connecting people that we will continue to grow and strengthen our community.

Be active. Stay healthy. Have fun!
